How should Milpitas manage its budget during the covid crisis?

Dear Community Members,

The City Manager is preparing recommendations for the annual budget based on existing Council Priority Areas and input from the Council and the public. This year, it is even more important to receive community input as the City has to reduce its expenditures and potentially services due to lower projected revenues because of the ongoing pandemic. Thanks to voter approval of the ¼ Cent local Sales Tax (Measure F) in November 2020, the cuts in services will be far less. Due to potential service cuts, we want to know what matters most to you.

You can tell us by taking the Milpitas Budget Challenge: "spend" imaginary money on what you think are the most important areas the City should invest for the upcoming year. The dollars you spend on each outcome will show how important this outcome is for you. This year, due to potential service reductions, we’ve added an additional question to understand which services our community values most. Take the quick survey today and allocate your dollars towards your most important outcomes.

The budget survey will be open for responses until April 30, 2021.
